I had the chance to play TOSS before its official release, and I have to say, it’s a very addictive game and quite different from anything Solitary Studios has made before.
When I first played it, I struggled to understand how to reach the goal. But after replaying it multiple times off-stream, I started to figure things out and realized there’s actually a method to it, which made the experience more rewarding.
There are still some minor issues that could use improvement:
The payoff from one of the side missions feels underwhelming
There are moments where the trash objects collide awkwardly with each other
The game lacks scares and a strong eerie atmosphere
The story didn’t hook me as much compared to previous titles
Subtitles overlap on the main menu (a small issue, but noticeable)
The endings are decent, but could be more impactful (hopefully improved in the full version)
Compared to the Silent Still 3 demo, which had voice overs, this feels like a downgrade, adding voice acting here would really elevate the experience
On the positive side:
The visuals and overall atmosphere are, as always, impressive
Player controls feel much smoother compared to previous Solitary Studios games
The options menu is more refined and user-friendly
The coin toss mechanics are fun and well-executed
One particular jumpscare genuinely caught me off guard
Overall, TOSS is a solid game. I wouldn’t call it great just yet, but it has strong replayability and a lot of potential.
I'll give this game a 6.9 out of 10 coins. Since this is still a demo, there’s plenty of room for polish and improvement in the full release. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for a detailed review man!
