MANDATO is a short, story-driven first-person horror game inspired by Filipino culture and social issues. Explore a Filipino town where political influence reaches far beyond city hall—and uncover the disturbing reality hidden beneath promises, loyalty, and public image.
This release contains the first chapter of the story and takes approximately 35–45 minutes to complete.
THE STORY
You play as Juan, a devoted supporter of his town’s powerful mayor. His wife, Mina, is an uncompromising journalist determined to expose the injustice hidden beneath the mayor’s carefully maintained image.
While working at a local bar, Juan begins to overhear suspicious conversations between criminals and influential politicians. Bribery, disappearances, political intimidation, and extrajudicial killings may all be connected to the man he has trusted for years.
As Mina’s investigation brings them closer to the truth, Juan’s loyalty is gradually tested. In a town where the powerful control the law, simply knowing too much could put their lives in danger.
GAMEPLAY
Explore the environment from a first-person perspective, interact with characters and objects, and complete story objectives as the events of the night unfold. Examine documents, photographs, messages, and other clues that reveal more about the town and the people controlling it.
Your smartphone is also an important part of the experience. Use it to receive messages, follow developing events, and interact with story-related content.
The game focuses on narrative, atmosphere, exploration, and psychological horror rather than combat. Horror sequences and unsettling events gradually interrupt Juan’s ordinary life as the truth begins to surface.

I originally planned to make Chapter 1 completely free for everyone. My goal was to let as many people as possible experience the game, especially since this is my first serious indie game project.
However, something unexpected happened recently. One of the important components in my laptop (graphics card) broke, and I now need to spend a significant amount of money to replace it. Since my laptop is basically my main tool for developing the game, I can't really continue working properly without fixing it.
Because of this, I'm currently considering changing Chapter 1 from free to a small paid release. Honestly, this wasn't part of my original plan at all, and I feel a little bad about changing it, but I also need to be realistic about the situation.
I'm a solo indie developer, so unexpected expenses like this can hit pretty hard. 😭

game pretty solid for chapter one. love the slow lean into madness at the end. cant wait to see how chapter 2 will pan out!
Mostly i played triple a game like gta rdr2 etc..but some of my viewers told my to try this and ends up loving it

I’ve played many horror games, but this is the first time I’ve experienced one that combines horror with themes of corruption and politics. I’ve tried the demo and analyzed it for myself—overall, it’s really solid! The main character’s walking animation could just use a bit of fine-tuning. Also, if possible, incorporating a few social media memes could add a touch of humor to the game.
If I were to rate it on a 10-point scale, this demo easily deserves a 9/10. Nest Games is very brave for tackling such sensitive and pressing societal issues in a game, and I truly hope to play the full version soon. Keep that creative flame burning to continue making such unique and bold games! Wishing you a smooth launch and a warm reception from the gaming community! ♥♥♥
Very interesting game and scary bcs this happens IRL. Playing this game made me feel angry and scared because you understand where the characters are coming from.

A truly profound and powerful experience. Experiencing these social issues firsthand through the eyes of someone living in that environment delivers an impact that news reports or social media feeds simply cannot match.The PSX style, detailed environments, and color palette looked fantastic. I loved the mechanics and subtle comic relief of trying to stumble through running the bar on the first day alongside the protagonist. My only small issue was the trek back to the house; it was so dark that it took me a while to figure out which way to go.
Aside from that minor hurdle, this is not your typical horror game. The feeling of pure helplessness at the end really hit home. Knowing this is only Chapter 1, I am incredibly excited to see how everything that was set up here plays out!

For being chapter 1, this is not too shabby so far!
This game seems really solid so far. Amazing story telling, cutscenes, scripted events, everything just falls into place quite well!I did not seem to encounter any bugs, glitched, crashes, fps problems, etc. The game did very well for me. The graphics are really well made and the overall atmosphere of the town and such was really well done! It felt like I was kind of there!
Overall, this series seems to have potential for sure! Made a video on it.

HUHU SORRANG GANDA NUNG GAME! Na-enjoy ko yung attention to details. Nakaka-immerse yung environment n'ya! Ang natural ng animation ng mga tao. 'Pag nasa malayo ka aakalain mong mga tunay silang tao na pinapanuod mo lang through an old phone. And speaking of phone, para talagang kuha sa tunay na buhay yung video sa phone tapos low quality lang yung video HAHAHAHAHA Kudos din sa sound design n'yo, binubuo n'ya talaga yung atmosphere and very natural yung voice acting. Bukod sa visuals and sounds, naa-appreciate ko talaga yung story at yung gusto nyong ipahiwatig na message. 'Di pa yan yung full game ha, pa'no pa kaya 'pag tapos na... Kaabang-abang!
